Nadia Popovici hadn’t woken up yet when what she had done to save a life was going viral on hockey Twitter.

As a casual hockey fan who happens to be from a melanoma family, this is doubly close to my heart. Thank you for bringing it to us here!

This is such a lovely story! I just read the article on the CBC and if you scroll down, there is a nice video of Popovici and Hamilton meeting up this evening.

Apparently when her mom identified her (via the “Ladies of the Kraken” Facebook group) as the person the Canucks were looking for, Popovici was sleeping because she had worked all last night at a suicide hotline.

Also, the Canucks and Kraken have teamed up to give her a $10,000 scholarship for med school.

You totally should. I made an appointment for a rash and found out the rash was not a problem. Then the doc told me to take off my glasses and pointed to a spot between my nose and one eye after inspecting it and announced it was basel cell carcinoma, which I probably misspelled. Anyway, it’s not the scary kind but I still need to have it removed.

is it wrong to point out that the Canucks won the game handily, are 8-0-1 for the past nine games, and are now officially considered "red-hot"? This hasn't happened for a while.

But please don't bring back the worst team slogan ever.

We Are All Canucks

this is a lovely story!! and please, if you can, get that skin check. some melanomas strike and spread very quickly. early detection is absolutely crucial. she really did save his life.
