"Are you a robot?" "No." "That's exactly what a robot would say."

Stevie Martin and Lola-Rose Maxwell make sketches about the frustrations of dealing with technology, work, and everyday situations, like verifying that you're not a robot, buying food online, working "for exposure", every time you try and go on a website, when you forget your password, trying to print something and others.

Stevie Martin is also on twitter.

These are great, but a little too real.

These feel like a parable about what happens when people who don't like interacting with people design everything that interacts with people.

These are exactly how I feel about these things. Especially the cookie interactions.

The grocery one is painfully on point. Why is this so difficult to get right?

These are amazing. Every one felt as if it was taken directly from my life. I’ve often wondered if those “click on every crosswalk” robot detectors were somebody’s idea of a prank that just took hold somehow.

The printer one really hit close to home. I don’t have to print all that often, but when I do I realize that not all technological advancements have improved my quality of life. A couple weeks ago I had to print a few UPS labels to ship some gear back to my head office. I did not figure this to be a half of a day, soul crushing, demoralizing exercise, but I also figured that it might actually work once I broke down and plugged in the USB cable on my supposedly wireless printer that was clearly connected to the right Wifi network. The printer spitting out about 50 copies the next day absolutely felt like its version of laughing at me.

You know, if Apple made a $1000 printer that "just worked" they'd add another trillion to their market cap.

Good stuff. I had to do one of these recently where it was "Click every square where a boat is visible" and I stressed out because some things looked clearly like boats and some looked like ships, and I thought for sure I was gonna get busted as a robot.

You could probably find a LaserWriter that still works.

You're helping google's 'AI' get better.

These are incredible. I'd seen the robot one before, but the password one was a true laugh out loud. Thank you!
