Alex Cameron's Living His Best Life

Alex Cameron just published his latest music video, Best Life, today on YouTube, directed by Jemima Kirke.

To be released in early March, Alex Cameron is coming out with a new album. Byline text from Secretly Canadian regarding his new music video, Best Life, states "Directed by Jemima Kirke, produced by Jim Larson and starring Kirke and Cameron, the song’s video explores the idea of what it means to find one’s “best life” by accepting others’ insecurities – in this instance, a skin condition such as eczema – as loveable qualities."

This is my first FP post, I hope I did it okay~

I'm looking forward to the new album. His stuff is pretty hit and miss for me but I'm hoping there'll be a couple of tracks I'll like on it.

That was pretty intense. Always glad to see new music videos pushing the medium. Thanks for posting!

Yeah I agree his stuff can be hit or miss; what I like is his narrative-crafting style and old-school synth sounding keyboard tracks. Also, some of his songs are truly romantic in a way that works for me (a lot of songs about intimacy and love just miss the mark for me in general; I find them to often express emotions in ways I don't experience them) and his satirical songs also do something for me that I don't find done well frequently. Thanks for your comments on my babystep FP post!

I thought that was Jo Firestone on the date, but clearly I can’t identify actresses.

That is Jemima Kirke, most famous for her role in Girls

When I first heard Alex Cameron it was the Jumping the Shark album, I didn't "get" the music. It didn't work for me. I even saw him live and didn't understand. Forced Witness came out and it was that record where things clicked for me - the songs take some time to gestate and it's usually the 15th or so listen where things align and I understand the vision. Some songs are bangers right out the gate, but it's the slow burners that creep up on you - the ones where you think are a miss - that turn out to be the better songs. At least in my experience. I think Alex and Roy are brilliant and in my top list of great acts to see live.

Hey first poster! Music video is an art form that rarely makes its way to me so I appreciate this, especially since Jemima Kirke is one of my je ne sais quoi crushes and because this kind of warm indie listening has been absent in my recent rotations. You did much better than okay!
