A little bit different than frames that obscure the artwork, but still intriguing: the Gilbert Stuart portraits of George and Martha Washington at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston are in frames that seem to have a lock. If you zoom in to the photo of the frames pieces in the article you’ll see a keyhole on the left of the front panel of the frame.

I just remembered to add an NSFW tag because there's an example of some kooky erotic artwork (penises raining down from the sky) hidden behind a more prosaic sort of print.
