"Early tomorrow morning we'll hit 2:02:02 2-02-'02." -- posted by mrbula, February 1, 2002

That was twenty years ago yesterday, and today is 02-02-22. In fact, in just a few minutes it will be 02:02:22PM on the Eastern U.S. Coast.

Numbers fans have noted that in a few weeks we will have 02-22-22, and under the current calendar system, no further repetitions like this will be possible.

Hm, should have proofread better. I meant to say that no month in the current calendar system has 33 days.

02-22-22 is a "twosday" (tuesday), appropriately.

Pretty sure in most of the world it's 22-2-22 truly palindromic (except in the parts where it was yesterday)

To celebrate 2/2/22, the fine folks at BART are inviting passengers to again take a #2 in several of the downtown stations. As of today, a number of restrooms that have been closed since 9/11 are again open to the riding public.

On a 24 hour clock and in the non-US way of expressing the calendar (wtf do we go month-day-year? It makes NO SENSE!), 22:22 is still coming up for a lot of us. so 22-02-22 22:22. Although 22-02-22 02:22 would have had better symmetry now that I think about it.

You and me both. I work in a team where the established convention for dates in file naming is MMDDYY and this drives me absolutely nuts. YYYYMMDD (I prefer using hyphens or periods, but will give them up if needed) lets the computer sort them chronologically!

While we're at it, can we also get rid of M/D? September 7 is so much more clear to me than 9/7.

You're not nuts. That convention is nuts. Nuts with an imperial thread in a world long since gone metric.

When I was 16, I invited several of my friends to a party at my house to celebrate the 8th of the 8th month, 1988.
It was my mother's idea
We toasted marshmallows in the fireplace.
I miss my mother.

It's good that your opportunity to celebrate all those paired eights came three decades ago. Fucking neonazis have completely ruined them now, along with so much else.

Way back in my youth, in a time when digital watches were new and exciting, I recall another unique moment in time. I was caddying on a Saturday, May 6, 1978, and trying to stay close to the other kid working our foursome who had a new Casio watch. We were backed up on some hole, waiting for our turn to tee off when I pounced.

"What time is it?"
"Twelve Thirty."
"Exactly?"
"12:34."
"And the date?"
"Saturday."
"No, Date."
"Dunno."
"It's May 6. 5 6 1978, so 5 6 78. 12345678."
"So?"

Dullards.
