The son of a rock god interviews a rock genius... (Scroll down to "Audio") Sean Lennon's 48-minute interview with Brian Wilson covers all aspects of music, from the genesis of a great song, to the competition between artists in the late 1960's. (The interview is in four parts, in RealAudio format.)
In my experience, people who slag John fall into one of three categories (with a lot of overlap between the first two):
1. Paul fans
2. Yoko haters
3. people that don't actually like the Beatles that much
So quonsar, which one?

Once you've heard the ultra-rare Pete Best solo album you will hate The Beatles forever.
Okay, I made that up, but he is on tour.

Now that Sean Lennon is so huge, it's nice to see him branching out into other endeavors.
Ever since seeing him on Behind The Music and witnessing his incessant whining about not getting a fair shake in the settlement of his father's estate, I just can't stomach the dude. John and Brian; legends in my eyes.

Oh wait. Got my Lennons crossed. It's Julian I can't stomach. Blah.

Rock God? Love the guy, but someone's takin' his "bigger than Jesus" statement a little too seriously :).

sean is the cool one that is involved with the girl from cibo matto. julian sang the late 80s tune about sitting on a pebble by the river playing guitar ... and wondering why he got some of dad's looks and none of his cash.

I would honestly call Brian Wilson a "pop genius", not a "rock genius." Thanks for the great link, though! I, for one, am firmly in the "Pet Sounds is the best album ever made" camp.

um, snickering over a ridiculous term like 'rock god' hardly equates to 'slagging john'. i saw him on tv at shea stadium and on ed sullivan. wasn't he already dead before you were born?

Sorry, missed the subtle distinction you made in that "[snicker]".
wasn't he already dead before you were born?
Heh. Not quite.

Actually, b. 1978, so you were almost right. I'm just in too snippy a mood today to concede even a minor point. Guess I'll put the matches and kindling away.

Anyone ever think it might have been a tongue in cheek reference to "bigger than jesus"? whatever. glad some of you liked the link. And, yes, "pop god" would have been more appropriate.
