My first thought was "That music had better sound like a .mod file."

I was not disappointed.

(And I just checked further down the "author's tweet" link, which makes me even more pleased with this:

For authenticity’s sake, the audio playback on the site is using an actual modfile and modplayer, rather than just streaming an mp3.)

Of course, everyone knows Space Debris

And here I would've sworn this'd be a Foone joint. A+

This is tremendous. I also thought of Foone. Strong good Foone energy. Now just need someone to gin up an MS-DOS gender defragger.

I immediately thought "MX-DOS" but I mean, more than just two, so certainly would want an MX Spectrum.

In any case you'd probably want to compile from source, rather than depending on binaries.

Enh, that's what they tell you in academia but it's a bit more complicated than that in practice. People think the compilation process is mostly deterministic, but it really isn't, and naively-compiled binaries are generally slower and less responsive in the field. You really need per-platform profile-guided optimization if you want some guarantees of a responsive, highly-performant gender.

I feel like I need a nocd crack. It sucks having to always have a physical thing to hand to authenticate.

If you really want to explode some brains, invent your own pronouns and make them into an NFT.

It's okay that people enjoy things I don't understand. But I'm surprised when every indication is that it's right up my alley yet it remains incomprehensible. I am befuddled. Cheers to those who are not befuddled.

checking my privilege here for he/him/his, I didn't realise there was a code, or you could switch it. as an ally, TIL to be better.

[bows deeply to Cortex, well done, I almost posted "binaries?!? ofc non-binaries. "]

Mod note: One deleted. Soooo, not everyone may be aware, but there's a kind of nasty history of abusive people mocking the idea of folks sharing their pronouns (how they'd like to be referred to, simple as that) with stuff like "I identify as [some weird thing]" or "my pronouns are [some weird things]" (— in fact there's even a couple lines in the code that hark back to this, but look that up on your own, plz!), and what we do want to do is be able to enjoy this as the fun and playful inclusive effort it's meant to be without accidentally crossing over into ridiculing or insulting people. Just a heads up, because I don't think anyone here wants to do the latter! Thanks!

I don't use mine often, the shareware nouns are all I need.

Really, we shouldn't need a keygen. Open source ftw - gender wants to be free!

Love it. I missed the whole keygen scene, so I was a bit confused. Thanks for the explanatory link, zamboni.

Has anyone made something that validates or otherwise makes use of the generated key? I could see a discord or slack bot doing something with it. And thanks for the pointer to that bit in the code, taz.

I had to run Nouns Free Trial for a long time before I could procure a key for Pro, but I'm tired of reminding people with "legitimate" versions to download their bugfixes and updates! I think those of us with pirated copies actually care more for our software?

Taz, I'm fully aware of the context; I was actually trying to make fun of NFTs and somehow it escaped me that that was far from the most likely interpretation. I am actually an enby myself, which makes it all the more embarrassing. Thanks for sparing others from having to see it and me further embarrassment. My actual pronouns are ve/ver/vis/vis/verself.
