We Spoke to 'Let Me Solo Her,' the Elden Ring Community Hero We Need and Deserve

It took him 242 tries to beat Malenia the first time. Now he's killed her nearly 400 times to help others.

This fucking game. I'm like 80 hours in and am just level 49 and wandering around with my mundane toon with just a shield and a twinblade. It's gorgeous and huge, and I almost never ride the horse, why would I rush through this scenery.

Nine years ago I was helping people in the original DKS with Smough and Ornstein (my how-to-help notes). It's really satisfying helping people through a tricky fight.

I wonder if eventually there will be an official game patch that acknowledges Malenia and LMSH as basically being Ralph and Sam.

In the sequel, I want Malenia and LMSH as an official couple.

Same here, it's my favorite part of any FromSoftware game. It's also a good motivation for challenge runs -- you want to stay low level so you get more summoning action. In Bloodborne I went through the whole game at level 24 (the highest level you can be and still get summoned by a fresh unleveled character) just so I could help people shred early game bosses with a +9 Whirligig Saw.

In Elden Ring I'm in the endgame and running out of bosses to kill at level 160, so I've just been doing co-op. Fire Giant and Astel are the most popular targets. I can basically solo Astel now even with the co-op buffs. (I absolutely love Astel's design, even if it's not the most mechanically interesting boss fight.)

Also, one thing to point out is that in co-op the game gives bosses a large health buff among other effects, so getting summoned and beating a boss solo in another player's world is harder than doing it single-player. The game also halves the number of healing/magic flasks you normally have when you get summoned, although this doesn't seem to be an issue for LMSH.

Let me solo her posted a statement to Reddit with some details on their build and how they think about what they do. It's straightforward and wholesome
I want to help those who are struggling with Malenia, as long as they've tried their best to fight her for a while.
I've also noticed a less wholesome trend of sexualized fan art around this phenomenon. Of course there is, rule 34 has no exceptions, and Elden Ring is fodder for fan art of all kinds. Most of it is awful but this woman's cosplay manages to be sexy, PG-13, and funny all at once.

I've been avoiding multiplayer entirely because the early game introduction made it sound like you'd be exposing yourself to random people coming to grief you at the worst possible time. Turns out Elden Ring's multiplayer is much more controlled than that though and it's very easy to, say, only summon someone to help you beat a boss while avoiding all the PvP gankery. The other multiplayer feature I like is group passwords; it lets you bias the appearance of messages and bloodstains to affinity groups.
