... by Grace Petrie. It was smcg who introduced me to Petrie right here on the Blue, and I'm very grateful for that because she's a terrific songwriter. Her latest album's called Connectivity, and this is my favourite track.

Ahh I have no idea how I missed a new Grace Petrie album. Thank-you!

Worth checking out her previous album, queer as folk, if you like her style. Black Tie is a whole queer mood that hits hard.

I came to Grace Petrie via The Guilty Feminist where she's a regular. For a brief glorious 24 hours, I had plans to fly to London just so I could see her open for Hannah Gadsby but I realized the shows were right when my goats were due to kid and I couldn't go. I did see Gadsby in DC but haven't seen Petrie in concert yet. Here's hoping for a US tour!

I had "Some Days Are Worse Than Others" from Connectivity on repeat when the album came out and the whole album has made my monthly playlist ever since. If you're interested in some of the back story on the album, The Guilty Feminist did a dedicated episode on it, interviewing Petrie and she also plays several the songs on the podcast.

Here's her Bandcamp page if you want to buy the album or any of her back catalog / merch.

Thanks for the reminder. I also first heard about GP from smcg in 2020. I listened to one and I was hooked and then another and I wrote an indignant email to my grown-up children:
"Fakkin' bri'nt. If you knew about her before, why did nobody tell me?" Dadical
She seems to be having a lorra fun as well as being genuinely angry. But who said that we had to march to the barricades with heart a-glum? Haul away for all of us who beachcomb through life.
