Take a break

I only watched the corgi video and in retrospect I have no idea why I thought any of this would be stress relieving in any capacity.

This is absolutely one of my favorite feel-good YouTube channels.

I had to go watch to see if the husky was scream/crying bloody murder. Indeed he was. LOL

No love for the cats in space helmets?

Huskies are like Screamapillars, but dogs. I watch this channel pretty frequently, along with Flatbush Cats (kitty rescue stories).

I dunno, I was chuckling at the groomer's snark during the corgi video.

This was definitely very much what I needed today, and thanks for posting it.

Ha, 30+ years of Boxers, each of which we bathed maybe every other month in the walk-in shower or sprayed with the hose (unless a major total mud/dirt fest or a nasty corpse rolling incident), dried with a quick towel rub and set loose to do their thing. Never had skin/fur issues, never smelled, always looked/felt super healthy - after growing up with Irish Setters and all that brushing/maintenance, I wanted a short-coated dog and those sweet Boxers were a revelation.

I've never had a dog. I've always thought it would be best to have a dog with short fur, and these videos are a strong confirmation.

I’m not sure if this one is linked, but there’s one where she grooms her own dog and absolutely ROASTS it, and it’s LOL hilarious.

Vanessa's ''signature' video clips:
Fredo the original Husky singing the song of his people - the video's thumbail says it all and is available as a t-shirt in her store.

and spicy Mayonnaise the cat: Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, and Round 4 where the viewer of the channel helped save the cat's life. Mayo hoodie available.

And now, what really goes on in her salon.

PS: The Equigroomer was originally invented for horses, hence the name.

Disclaimer: no connection wiith her or her site. This was the text of my months-old never-published FPP for the same topic. Thanks Adept.

I recommend the "English Bulldog" link! It actually links to the grooming of a yellow lab named Thor, who is a Very Good Boy throughout and has a wonderful time. And the deshedding is hilarious... "And now, I will de-shed him... For seven days... And seven nights..."

I'd like to know more about no-drama nail clipping.

Here are all 'Girl With The Dogs' Vanessa's own dogs that we know of:

Obfuscation, you asked for it -- meet her psycho dog Ace. Also Ace.

Her German Shedder Zoey. Zoey's groom session in real time.

Her Pomeranian Gidget.

And her alopecian Pom Melvin.

Cats – she grooms them. Shorthaired, hairless, and all the longhaired breeds. And as always, I enjoy Vanessa’s thoughtful, detailed explanations about what is and is not appropriate for the individual felines in her care.
But my favorite video (so far) is her take on how she started her business and what she has learned in more than a decade of pet grooming in Ontario, Canada.

Oof! To my surprise I could only watch a little bit of the husky before I had nope out of there.
Reminded me too much of my White Shepherd before I realised that she doesn't ever need to be bathed. Brushing etc I could get her to accept. Are there dogs that need to be bathed? Other than a rolled-on-a-dead-mole situation?

I also noped out pretty quickly after clicking on the corgi clip. Will go check out that lab one though!

If people are looking for resources for consent-based grooming, you might want to try to search for the term “cooperative care.” There’s this book by Deb Jones that we’ve been working through. But if you’re just interested in nail care, this video is a pretty decent primer (the first 7 minutes or so is about the importance of keeping the nails short). It’s so markedly different when she has choice, and once we had some of the scaffolding in place, introductions to different tools/harnesses/etc went more quickly.

I watched the Bernese.

That was a lot of hair, but I'd still love to have one.

I've been watching dog grooming videos for a while, it's my ASMR, although I do tend to get nervous when the scissors get too close to their eyes and buttholes. If you like smaller dogs, check out Shu and Tree.

I just discovered her recently, mostly through clips of cats that get put in the Rage Cage for drying. When she's blow drying pets on the table, why does she sometimes wear that thing that sort or looks like pink beekeeping headwear?

I double-checked my bookmarks and didn't find it for you, but Vanessa has said that the netted hat is to reduce the amount of hair that she breathes in each day. Occupational hazard.
