Adopted tawny owlets get fluffier, wigglier, doted on, scooped into a bag, popped into another bag like confused groceries, admired by humans, and then dropped back home before parents return.

Robert E. Fuller is a wildlife artist who has been documenting the remarkable Luna and Bomber and their two adopted owlets. After two seasons of eggs that failed to hatch, the rescued owlets were swapped in and immediately accepted by Luna.
“Luna flew into the nest. I counted a heartbeat as she paused to look at the two chicks and then she rushed right over to the two owlets and spread her wings over them protectively. It was as though she thought her own eggs must have hatched while she was out.”
Luna and Bomber 2022 playlist, featuring the owlets. Shorter videos include their first flight and Bomber sneaking in some dad time.

I think he collaborated with the Youtube Channel The Dodo for this video about two orphaned stoats. Major cuteness alert on that one.

So cuuuuute! So fluffy and chill! I am amazed every time I see animals that are unfazed by human shenanigans.

I am flooded with oxytocin! This guy's "about" page is pretty interesting, too. I'm always interested to read about people who manage to make a living doing work that's fun.

If you're traveling in the northwest US, be sure to visit the Cascades Raptor Center in Eugene, Oregon.

Raptors and the weasel-like, two of my favorite banned pets! Things like this provide pretty much the only motivation for me to ever move out of the city.
