The Clockwork Man

A wonderfully surreal dune sea shanty. If you don’t know the backstory, just accept that the universe is a strange and wonderful place. If you do, this just ups it a notch.

Excerpted from Star Wars: Larry Ep. 3, a wholly unauthorized, but apparently tolerated, remix of Obi-Wan Kenobi by Auralnauts.

Note: I’ve never seen the streaming show this based on and probably never will. The Larry-verse is way funnier.

The Auralnauts version of Star Wars is so much better than actual Star Wars that it has become canon for me. The latest episode of Larry is truly fantastic.

I watched all the previous Auralnauts remixes and agree - their prequels are way better paced and the character’s motivations and behaviours all make much more sense, especially Creepio’s. Didn’t know they did Obi-wan, will have to check it out. I’m assuming The Clockwork Man is our friend Creepio, though I don’t remember him being in the show.

They've also redubbed selected scenes in the original films to help them make sense in the context of the prequels and sequels.

I'm pretty much ignorant about Star Wars post-1977 and similarly deaf to the more recent sea shanty craze...but this was great, even without the presumably necessary background!

The whole Auralnauts reworking of Star Wars is worth a watch. It is surprisingly coherent, rather than just being a series of one-offs. The older works feature a lot more techno dance-fights, and the music is quite good (If that’s your thing - if you like jazz, maybe not so much).

They put A LOT of work into these and I wish I knew more about their process.
