. . . the Squid Facts hotline . . .

Hello? This is, um, Joe Bether...son...ton. If I invite a squid as my, um, companion to Thanksgiving dinner, is there a chance I could kill my guests? I'm not saying that's necessarily a deal breaker.

YaY! I usually celebrate Cephalopod Awareness Days from October 8-12. Oct 10 is designated as Squid/Cuttlefish, or Squiddleday. Happy to add more fascinating invertebrate holidays to the calendar!.

Bobtail squids can ooze glue from their skin.

Favorite squid factoid: to camouflage itself from predators in very shallow water, the tiny, multi-talented Hawaiian Bobtail Squid also hosts symbiotic light-emitting — and sometimes deadlyVibrio fischeri bacteria that counter-illuminate (and eliminate) its shadow.
