Let the market decide

Let the market decide where Dan Bern will play next. Bern and his band are auctioning off a private concert at the auction winner's house. You can apparently make his appearance as large or intimate as you want. Would a dutch auction like this be enough to build a U.S. tour on?

An interesting concept. I've seen something similar to the dutch auction attempted whereby fans register what city they are in and pledge the equivalent of a ticket price for that musician to come to their town. The idea is that once a certain amount is reached where it is financially feasible to make the trip to that town then a show is scheduled. Of course the added bonus is that the musician is guaranteed a crowd to play to.

I can't remember where I saw this though - anyone know what I'm talking about?

Recommend everyone download his song "Tiger Woods" if it's on kazaa or wherever. "Cure for AIDS" is another good one. Just in case yall were interested on who the guy is.

"Tiger Woods" and "Cure for Aids" are both great songs, but they only reflect one side of Bern's music. I would recommend "Crosses" and "Airplane Blues" from his Smarty Mine two disc set as some of his more serious songs.
