This was way more compelling than I had expected.

I recognize a favorite swimming spot at Nelson's Ledges in Ohio but have never been for a festival. A day swimming there is a nice hippy experience, where some tie dyers and others set up for the summer. (There were also some clips in the film taken at Blossom in the CVNP not far away, I think at this summer's Phish show.)

Love the guy with the DMT in his past and the DMB t-shirt.

I really enjoyed this! Thanks for sharing it.

A lot of people that really reminded me of high school friends that leaned heavily in the hippie direction; even then, it felt like it was an echo of the genuine movement/times, so it's interesting and a bit shocking to realize that I'd be identified as one of the older people in this doc, and that there's a cultural gravity to the tie-die/tinted glasses/dreadlock aesthetic that seems to persist as a perennial thing regardless of how time and fashion changes around it.

I'm never sure if my pursuit of the "straight" life despite constant curiosity and a certain envy for all of this is pragmatism or cowardice.

I appreciate the part at the beginning about embracing past selves.

Thank you for this! It took me a couple days to get to it, but I really enjoyed it. I used to laugh at this website called "Passed-Out Wookiees" or something back in the day when you visited separate websites for fun, and I hadn't thought about it since.

This is a subculture that's kind of in plain sight without being noticed, maybe because it's all about growing dreads and shrooms, not causing trouble or advocating for much besides inner peace and maybe new drug laws. I would see these guys when I'd go to music festivals -- hasn't been for ages now -- and I was always a little envious of them because they didn't seem to be bothered by the porta-potties or the sun or cold or anything, really. I still like to see people so happy in their own skin.
