They say of the Acropolis, where the Parthenon is...

Yes, this is just a couple of minutes of comedians riffing on Stephen Fry stumbling over a slightly oddly written setup. Yes, it's from 2014. No, it has nothing to do with anything. It's been a tough year. Just giggle along with them.

Ha, I immediately remembered that clip. The day I first saw it (maybe on TikTok? I haven't actually watched much QI through and mostly the Sandy Toksvig era) I ended up with the sing-sing version running through my head for about an hour.

It's kind of like a weird little poem, what with the rhyme and Demeter

Their pile on about Stephen's school tailor was equally merciless.

What a delight. I think I've seen this before, but thanks for the reminder!

If we're throwing mercilless banter to hosts on UK shows, can I nominate Johnny Vegas' perfectly timed lines as The Last Leg team try to record a trailer for that night's show?

One of my favorite moments of TV. Up there with Tree Wizard from Taskmaster.

Many of my favourite QI moments involve Phil Jupitus befuddling Stephen Fry by flirting with him, amply demonstrated here.

Does deserve a quick ticktok style cameo by spiny norman, but omg, was this live originally, probably sent a few to the er.

Since we're posting favorite QI bits, How The Giant Tortoise Got Its Name always makes me laugh!

This is basically an improvised opera and I want to see a four-act version at Covent Garden immediately

I've always wondered, are these delightful panel shows where witty people basically banter and joke around exclusively a British phenomenon? I guess NPR's Wait Wait Don't Tell Me it's a U.S. example, but I'd love to see some other international variations on the theme.

If not, I'll just keep looping this Joe Wilkinson poem.

Sandi has a similar experience with Bill and Phil. Something to do with the wind.

OK, now I'm sketching out a libretto for the opera. Who wants to compose?

Not quite the same, but the various international versions of Taskmaster all have a panel component and are absolutely lovely. Particularly recommend Taskmaster New Zealand season 2 and (pretty easy to find English subs) Taskmaster Portugal season 1. The Norwegian and Danish versions (Kongen Befaler and Stormester) are also quite excellent and at least the first season of Kongen Befaler is on YouTube in the US with English subtitles, although fair warning that the Greg Davies-equivalent in that one was recently removed from the show after a racist incident in a bar, which may dampen your enjoyment (it does mine, retrospectively).

Other versions worth checking out, in rough order of my personal preference, are:

Bast i Test (Sweden)
Het Grootste Licht (Belgium) (people sleep on this version, but I think it's pretty great)
Le Maitre de Jeu (Quebec)
Direktor Svemira (Croatia)
Suurmestari (Finland) (I just can't get past the Taskmaster equivalent, who has negative charisma)

I think that's all of them other than Spain, US (both terrible), and the upcoming Australian version.

Man, I love Taskmaster, and the panel banter is one reason why.

The Last Leg is a particular favorite of mine (seriously I would NOT have gotten through the 45th President's administration without them), and I have a lot of favorite clips; but one especial favorite is when Jack McBrayer was on the show. He was in a production of the musical Waitress in the West End at the time, and clearly expected the kind of "promote your thing on a late night talk show" thing you find in the US. But he very, very quickly realized this was not what he was in for at all.
