"So the annual problem / for our generation / is finding a good way to spend it." How about watching 40 new episodes of Phineas & Ferb? Dan Povenmire, we love you.

I don't know if I've seen a revival series able to capture the magic of the original, but damn if I'm not willing to see the attempt. What little I had seen of it as an adult was very charming.

I didn't see Phineas and Ferb, but I've heard enough about it, from enough people, to know a lot of people will be thrilled with this! I've wanted to watch it, but there's lots of stuff I want to watch.

P&F was a genuinely great cartoon. When you build your comedy around a running gag you risk the gag getting stale, but somehow this show, which was basically constructed entirely from nothing *but* running gags, was goddamn hilarious each and every time. It may not have had the same ability to pack an emotional punch at unexpected moments as, say, "Adventure Time" or "Steven Universe", but...it didn't really have much interest in that, either. It was just sunny and optimistic and hilarious and managed to avoid becoming cloying somehow. I will probably at least check out the revival, and my kid is in COLLEGE at this point.

I'm down for this. A lot of other shows have a hidden darkness that's revealed as the show goes on. Behind P&F's sunny disposition is a great big heart. Love this show.

All I know about P&F is that "you've got rhythm" song which I've listened to way too many times. It's on my list of cartoons that I kinda missed in their heyday that I know I should get around to watching. "Hey Arnold!" is right above it on that list...

P&F was all about the running gags and the sometime absurdity of it all (Giant Floating Baby Head being the simultaneous pinnacle of both IMO). But I think the early shows also distilled the "we're not gonna get caught!" escapism of Ferris Bueller into a kids' format and that was a huge hook.

Anyway, looking forward to checking the new stuff. Suity up booty up, everyone!

(I will never, ever not love the “you’re trapped… by societal convention!” Bit. It was so great.)

I’m glad about this because we love P&F at our home, but I can’t help wish we were getting a complete third season of Owl House instead.

Never caught the original, but it does look like fun. But I'm sorry, Quirky Worky Song is a total knock-off of The Real Tuesday Weld's bathtime in clerkenwell
