I enjoyed a fish spa the one time I did it, but while I like crabs fine in theory I do not think I would be sanguine about having them dine on me.

Fish seemed gross, but crabs seem tidy. They are politely using their claws instead of their mouths. I'd let a beach crab tidy my toes.
Also I did not know crabs can taste with their claws. Does this happen in every iteration of convergently-evolved crab?

The crabs are cute, but I wouldn't have the patience for this. If I want to get the gunk out from under my toenails, that's what the plastic pick on my pocket knife is for. But I'm all for people communing with nature in whatever way suits them; I can imagine standing at the sea shore watching crabs for an hour must be pretty relaxing and restorative.

I would head for that beach in a heartbeat but I’m on the wrong coast. Crabs are groovy and wee ones even more so.
Unappetizing toe close-ups aside, this looks like an agreeable, somewhat tingly way to spend an afternoon, just watching crustaceans doing their thing. Sure beats staring at a phone.
Also, speaking from experience, I can attest that there are few things more relaxing and soothing than being carefully groomed by a parrot.

Can you rely on them brushing their teeth between clients, though? Less of an issue for shore crabs just because they have so few.

Shepherd, nearly a decade on a trip to the UK, had one of those fish pedicures at Camden Market. He loved it. He still talks about it with longing.

They're all over the place. It looked like he was mostly around Sunset Cliffs and Ocean Beach, or maybe places just south of La Jolla Village, but those little guys are hanging out in the nooks and crannies of every bit of rocky coastline we have, natural or manmade.

NGL, I would try this. The fish pedicures are illegal in CA so this is a fun local alternative

I would definitely try it for a while but I don't think I'd have the patience to sit still for hours like he said he does.
Maybe that's part of the benefit, Learning/practicing sitting still.
