What a whopper of a post!

I haven't read all the links but really appreciated the one about why it's Hungry Jacks here in Australia. In Western Australia it's never been anything else!

The irony of BK reneging on a settlement (because they thought their opponent had inside info) only to lose the case is delicious.

I remember seeing a Hungry Jack's and a Burger King right next to each other, which was bad for Burger King because they definitely came off second-best in the comparisons. I don't know how it compares to the American branch these days - the menu's sort of complex but they've taken to rotating in burgers with unusual sauces and toppings. It's not great food, but I can eat it.

(I've started seeing Taco Bells turn up in Australia as well, where I think they've absolutely missed the boat. Taco Bell might have had a place ten, twenty years ago, but at this point you can get half-decent Mexican pretty easily, and Taco Bell is literally not allowed to be as cheap as it is in the US, so what's the point)

Did they invent smell-o-vision recently? After watching the videos and reading the articles I swear I can smell french fries.

Ah, the subservient chicken. That was a long, long time ago.

I can't believe Hungry Jacks in Australia still does $5 for a Junior Whopper Cheese, Chips and Coke through their app, while for anything close to that you'd be paying $10 or more in McDonalds or KFC. And if you want some Vietnamese Noodle Salad or Schnitz or some Chinese take away it's like $15.

A hamburger named for a huge lie.

Wake up wheeple!

The genius of this new jingle is that it’s out of tune in exactly the way the original was.

I kind of miss Burger King. I mean I know they still sort of exist but the ones around here are all so sad and poorly run that it's almost impossible to actually purchase a burger from them.

this entire post was just to set up the harder better faster whopper remix

I love a Whopper Jr., but I hate that out of tune jingle so much. It is of a feather with the commercials that have people saying stuff like "BEANS. BEANS. YUMMY. EAT. BEANS. FRIED. BAKED. BEANS BEAN BEAN BEANS."

Last week they mentioned McDonald's on the Daily Zeitgeist and I was in the drive thru line for breakfast within an hour. I just read over 10,000 words about Burger King and am thinking of ordering a turkey sandwich for lunch.

WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER I KNOW TEN WORDS ONE IS WHOPPER

God, that is an irritating commercial.

Hold up. This is an actual jingle from BK? My kid was walking around the house listening to this on TikTok for hours and thought it was the funniest thing and I just assumed it was some random dude riffing on the old 70s song. Man.

But the campaign is working so...bravo?

Bravo, that is some effort!

I cannot remember my own damn address half the time but have this thing memorized. I also was watching the Bills game where Damar Hamlin collapsed and everyone thought he had died, and they cut to WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER WHOPPER JUNIOR DOUBLE TRIPLE WHOPPER. It did not rule that day.

I don't get the appeal of it. Of course I'm not the target audience, as I haven't eaten at a fast food burger place in decades. My recollection from the 80s is that Burger King kind of sucked, and I hear a lot of people saying that today too.

But they all suck, IMHO. I'm probably just an old hippie yelling at clouds here, but ignore the commercials, turn off your TV, get out of your car, and spend a couple extra bucks at your locally-owned burger joint if you can afford it. If you can't, make your own at home.

I don't know. About once every three months I am compelled to get in the car, drive to Burger King, get a Whopper with cheese and bacon and eat it in the parking lot like a ravenous animal, and it's never not incredibly freaking delicious.

I reject your old hippie energy.

JoeZydeco: the first link is the original ad, but the remix this post is built around (and which I've linked a few TikToks on) is one made by somebody on TikTok who supposedly hates the ad

(also hilariously I am zero percent fond of Burger King/Hungry Jack's but the song is catchy)

Back when I was a kid, I went to a lot of birthday parties at the local Burger King. They had a play area, and we'd all sit at a long table and wear burger crowns, and eat our fast food. I find it hard to believe that kids still do this, but maybe they do?

creatrixtiara: oknosobutlikewait, I must have missed something—the "subservient chicken" reference buried in the 2004 Seth Stevenson Slate story (your #15 "I RULE" link) wasn't referring to "Our work" in the semi-epic Metafilter Subservient Chicken testing thread of 2004?

I've clearly self-beanplated.
