Thank you, that was strangely relaxing.

Love starship corridors?

Ticonderoga’s Star Trek Set Tour, where the sound stages used for shooting the original series have been meticulously recreated, includes a corridor. It’s fascinating to see how a short curved section, which is precisely long enough for specific camera angles and no more, was used to simulate spaces throughout the ship. Change the lighting, mirror the film for a different direction, or swap out a wall prop et voilà, one corridor segment becomes the entire ship.

BTW, this tour is great fun and highly recommended, especially for those of us old enough to remember being dazzled by the original show. Shatner plans to visit this summer—the set layout exactly matches his memories and he loves spending time there.

They did such a good job filling these spaces with people in the show that these shots actually feel really foreboding.

Realizing that if anyone in this community experiences bathophobia to any degree, that this "restful stroll" may not actually be right for you.

Apparently when he was filming "The Godfather", Coppola forgot to film some insert shots of empty hospital corridors that are cut into to emphasize Michael and Vito are all alone. So Coppola recruited a film student friend of his, George Lucas, to take all the footage he filmed of people walking through the corridors and snip off the bits before "Action" and the bits after "Cut". And that's what they used.

All this is to say is that I look at these and wonder who just left or is about to enter this screenshot.

Unfortunately, this just makes me think of the corridors in Severance.

Exploration of abandoned spaceships (GoodReads) as a subgenre of science fiction.

By coincidence, the recent thread on the classic Mac emulator includes the first Marathon game, and when you first appear, it seems like you're on a completely abandoned starship... until you fire off a shot. Then red markers appear on your HUD map, closing in...

You know your starfaring future is civilized when you can afford to carpet your starships.

Ugh, can you imagine the smell? I mean we've seen how story-lines play out on these ships, those carpets have SEEN some things.

But then again, maybe these are self-cleaning carpets with some future tech shit.

They don’t need future tech cleaning shit, they already have the Vacuum of Space

Even better, Ticonderoga’s Star Trek Set Tour was created by an Elvis impersonator.
I think it might be the most American story of all time.

Early season Next Generation uniforms, made of spandex, were infamously scrapped in part due to cast and crew complaints about their tendency to retain odors.

There are some wonderful Star Trek models people have put together in Steam VR. For a lifelong trekkie, it was pretty intense to walk the corridors of a Galaxy class ship.

Ticonderoga’s Star Trek Set Tour

I both love you and hate you for making me aware of this. I very much want to see this kind of thing, but it's very unlikely that that I'll be getting to upstate New York in the near future.

It’s hard to believe this hasn’t been a Lower Decks bit.

Star Trek, they just transport them out and run them through the replicator filters and transport them back into place.
