The People's Plan for Nature

Can citizens' assemblies save the planet? The People’s Plan for Nature, launched on Thursday, sets out the UK public’s recommendations for reversing massive declines in Britain’s nature. A hundred people were invited to come together, in a citizens’ assembly, to agree on a plan for how to renew and protect nature. More information at peoplesplanfornature.org

I've posted here previously about Citizen's Assemblies, which as a regularly-horrified employee of a legislative body I feel would be a fantastic replacement. There was a lot of good discussion on that last post, so I thought I'd circle back after learning about this project through a lovely Guardian article by Sarah Hudson, which shows some of the real advantages I think citizen assemblies could potentially have.

It is clear that out flanking current institutiona is needed, since those institutions are corrupt, captured, hobbled, and have self-serving biases.

This seems like a good non-violent way to accomplish this. Lets do it more and everywhere and see how far we can get with it.
