Oh yes, this is a wonderful channel. I also love Asu e no Tobira, which unfortunately has no English subtitles. Also soothing and pleasant is Chinenbingata, an Okinawan textile dyeing company working to revive a traditional Ryukyuan technique that almost vanished after World War II.

This was lovely to watch.

The University I attended had a well-known ceramics school that drew students from all over the world. The demands of working with ceramics meant that at virtually any time of day or night there would be folks working with clay or babysitting kilns, including a wood-fired one that demanded constant attention. I savored strolls through that part of campus, often after late-night work on the school newspaper, and chatting with the tired but enthusiastic students at work there.

An English major with a weird schedule, I was a tourist in their world, but found it infinitely soothing and reassuring. The hot-metal smell of the kilns with their constant low roar, the sounds of wet clay being slapped and handled, the sloshing of glazes, and the orderly, measured movements of potters at wheels were a tonic after my classwork.

There is something deeply satisfying about watching this type of work done well. Beautiful results, too. Thanks for posting.
