Apologies if this is mentioned in the thread, as I am Twitter sober I've not RTFA, but John Jeremiah Sullivan's The Final Comeback of Axl Rose is one of my favourites - I re-read it every few years.

I didn't see it but that piece is so great, and makes a good companion to the Mary Gaitskill exploration of Axl-lust listed in there.
