Snoop Dogg kicks the chronic, gin and juice.

Will sobriety spoil Calvin Broadus?

Snoop's found himself other pleasures.

as Snoop joked when he was on Howard Stern, there's probably enough drugs still in his system so that he won't actually be "sober" for two years.

Boondocks succinctly presented my reaction.

On preview, what ?! said. It was a three-day storyline, if you want to follow it. (p.s. any reason for the line break in there, mikrophon? I would've emailed instead of posted, but couldn't find it on your home page. signed, 14-inch screen)

More to the point, ?!, Boondocks presented it, like, a week ago, and newspaper comics are long-lead enterprises (i.e. it's not like they're written the night before). I'm not ragging on mikrophon for posting it, but if it's not new news to mefites, I don't think they're going to have much to say, having already reacted to it back in the day.

I'm glad he was able to ki-zack the habeeyotch.

But, seriously: what's he going to imbibe in his new ride?

Believe it or not, some of us don't actually read the comics, and even if we did, most papers don't carry Boondocks anyway.

Certainly, giving up intoxicants hasn't hurt converts to the clean and sober life like Eric Clapton, Aerosmith, Korn's Jonathan Davis, or Lou Reed (the guy who wrote ''Heroin''). As Snoop told me, ''I've driven a lot of niggas over the cliff'' by espousing the stay-high lifestyle. Now, let's see how many he can save.

I think ?! and I should either fight, or get together and form a superhero team.

any reason for the line break?
Strictly an asthetic choice. I will do my best to reign in my creative impulses and keep things compact in the future. Thanks for the heads-up.

aesthetic choice. I am a keyboard wizard.

Right, crash, but Snoop didn't call up the Boondocks' Aaron McGruder and tell him personally. McGruder must have seen it in other media, meaning that the story broke sometime in August, and was probably carried in a handful of mainstream publications in late August or early September. I see that ?! has linked to a CNN story dated yesterday, so for him and CNN, it's relatively new news, and, like I said, I'm not ragging on ?!; but this is definitely an example of CNN being late to the game. That CNN piece is an Entertainment Weekly story (ah, synergy) from last week, and it's a think piece of sorts, not a "news bulletin."

Again, mefites probably aren't society-page mavens, including (or especially or even) society pages that cover hip-hop artists, and I'm not saying it's a bad post. (And I don't mean to make this a MeTalk comment.) It just struck me as old news, although I see that CNN deserves a spanking.

I'm not ragging on ?!

That's only fair.

OK, blueshammer, I get what you're saying now. That makes sense.

Although maybe McGruder's more connected than we think. You know comic strip artists are diabolical geniuses, right? Except for whoever that chick is that draws Cathy. And maybe Bil Keane.

For the record, and in my defense (against what I'm not sure?) the Boondocks bit referred to this as an "unconfirmed rumor," the type of thing an insider might know about, but maybe not a white guy living in East Nashville.

Bil Keane is a diabolical genius. I tremble before his dark powers.

blueshammer...before it gets out of control...

?! linked to the comic and not the CNN article. It was "old-news" for yours truly....who may or may not be a "him" as it were.

And mr_crash_davis who reads comics in the paper?

Finally...I am glad to see Aaron McGruder has been previously discussed.

And interrobang...you can pronounce my symbol exclamark if you like. No need to fight. The team concept is intriguing though.

"And mr_crash_davis who reads comics in the paper?"

I guess my question to you is: Since Berkely Breathed retired, who reads comics at all?

You should, moss. Keane's got the ability to summon Zippy!

Note to self:

Dump that Seagrams stock.
Note especially the "Blue Beast with Ginseng" flavor, for the homepathic lush.

How this man smoked up to four ounces a day and didn't choke to death on pieces of his own lungs is beyond me.

Back on topic, I'm glad to hear Snoop kicked. We did some work for his side-group Tha Eastsidaz about 2 years ago, and he was looking beat. I'm hoping it brings him back to looking a little healthier. He's the goddamn Mick Jagger of hip hop, one of only 4 or 5 rappers out there with rock star personality and truly exceptional talent.

I can understand the weed and gin, but I've heard that juice isn't all that bad for you.

mr_crash_davis, Can I call you crash? Anyway, I too mourned the demise of my daily Bloom County fix. However, by dropping out you're missing: the aforementioned Boondocks, Get Fuzzy, 9 Chickweed Lane, and Liberty Meadows (which is now actually a comic book.)
