This is not something I expected to see today, but OK.

Nice editing. And who the hell realizes that a Rob Zombie song is the same tempo as a song from a musical? That's a peculiar kind of genius.

Awww. I saw this awhile back and thought naively that they had actually USED Dragula in the musical and I was like *How wildly unconventional!"

I've never watched Matilda, but I really dig the "singer"s moves and now I wonder if I should (even knowing it's not using the music in this video).

I don't know whether or not the movie version of the Matilda musical "works" or not, but I do know as a stage musical it was HUGE in the West End and I think not as huge on Broadway, but it's had really successful tours.

I think really it depends on whether you like Minchin's music/lyrics and child performers.

The two leads here, "Rob" and the girl in the beret, kick so much butt. I might have to actually see this movie.

When you have heavy music and you can dance to it, it attains very different kind of appeal. I heard a David Grohl interview where he talked about swiping the drumming from old disco tunes for Smells Like Teen Spirit and you can actually hear that, which I think is one of the reasons that song was so wildly popular.

That dance sequence is amazing, by the way.

I saw Rob Zombie in concert on a double bill with Alice Cooper. They were both really excellent shows, but they were so different in character, and really they went the wrong way round. Alice played first and that is such a theatrical, involving show involving so much on-stage death, it's really hard to top it. And Rob really couldn't. But his set was full of that really great Fun To Dance To music that he makes and had a lot of fireball throwers that were fun. If they'd done it the other way around, it would have been a perfect night. But alas, Rob's show, as good as it was, really didn't stack up to what Alice had been doing on stage for decades.

Counterpoint: The Ozzy/Rob Zombie tour was the opposite. Ozzy just couldn't stand up to the energy of Rob Zombie "opening" the show. That was also the tour where they did shows every other night, and of the off nights, Rob Zombie would do club gigs.

Frankly, that was the point I started to hate Sharon Osbourne, since I felt that without her "management", Ozzy would have been enjoying a well-earned retirement instead of going out and flogging it on stage every (other) night.

Did they play with Ministry? I've been getting Facebook ads for those three and am sorely tempted.

This would have been in 2010, and no Ministry was not on the bill.

My favorite musical/soundtrack swap is Godflesh Superstar, which manages to pull off a similar sync with the added bonus of not being chopped and edited as far as I can tell. The alignment starts super early, and by the 3-3:30 mark gets absolutely wild.

Wow, yeah FatherDagon. That's pretty bonkers.
