Happy Pride Month! So, another artist suggested by wowenthusiast is anonymous Brooklyn rapper Leikeli47 [Wikipedia]. She recently completed her Beauty trilogy with the album Shape Up [YT playlist, Pitchfork review]. Leikeli spoke with NPR's Sidney Madden [44m] about the new album, her outlook and philosophy, and her struggles for authenticity. She did a set for NPR Music's 15h Anniversary [23m] that was so fire that Uproxx had to write about it.

The queer label is a bit slippery here, with different sources [including 47 at various times] suggesting different things. But I'm just gonna say -- she's queer. Queer enough for this list this month, anyway. You don't get that popular with all those house queens if you aren't queer on some level.

I learned of Leikeli47 from her Tiny Desk concert, which is fantastic (including the TSA-uniformed band)!

Huh, I was thinking about her just earlier today, going through my playlist of random hip-hop, deciding to look more into her stuff. I had Hoyt And Schermerhorn from Acrylic on the list. So this is very timely.

Why is anonymous used for her as an adjective?

Why is anonymous used for her as an adjective?

Because she performs under a pseudonym wearing a mask and chooses to remain unknown. She uses the word.
