I prefer the "They call the Wind Moria" with Harv Presnell and the chorus.
It's Oregon. I *like* the rain. :)

I have annoyed my friends for the last 20 years making them promise that this version of this song will be the only song played at my funeral.

We often played the 45 of this at our old hippy stoner hangout, humming along with the intro. It's kinda profound.
If you haven't seen Paint Your Wagon, the rest of the movie is not that great.
Clint singin I Talk to the Trees is neat.

Clint Eastwood the crooner is so much nicer than Clint Eastwood the badass cop, let alone the insane 2012 Republican Convention Clint Eastwood, where he debated an empty chair with rude inference. He hasn't done much since. Despite everything, I hope he's doing well. He seems like a mostly good guy, and at 94 he can't cause that much chaos.

HeyHo, a Proustian madeleine for me: ole gravel voice resonated with the miserable lonely 15 y.o. that was me when it came out. Never seen the movie.

I have this movie on my computer (downloaded years ago from YT, thank you!) and I watch it ALL THE TIME.
It's really 3 movies in one. It's the buddy movie. It's a love story. And It's a love triangle!!
And then there's the Mormons. <3

If you pick this one to sing at karaoke, know that there’s almost a full 90 seconds of instrumental lead in.
I usually use it to tell people about the movie, “it’s not just a Simpsons gag”

Lee Marvin looks a lot like Bob Weir.
When I was a teenager camping, I came across a group of adults around a campfire, and one of the songs they were singing went:
A way out here, they got a name, for wind and rain and fire
The wind is Wind, the rain is Rain
And they call the fire Fire

When I was a kid I thought he was singing "I was born under a wild gren sky" Also why did I think this was in Cat Ballou?!

My favorite version of "I talk to the trees"
"Hi there, chair. I just stopped by to talk to you for a minute. I've just been talking to the fire hydrant."

I was about 10 when I heard Lee Marvin sing this, listening with my parents to a radio broadcast of it. All three of us were in stitches because Lee Marvin is so obviously not a singer. My dad, as was his wont, made up silly lyrics to the tune to emphasize the quality of the singing.
I wish I had known of or seen the film. Marvin's gruff, quiet, not really in tune performance is a perfect accompaniment to the film. It made me want to learn more about this lonely man, making the song and its delivery something that drew my empathy, not my ridicule.

She killed a man in Wolf City, Wyomin'
Wolf City, Wyomin', killed a man it's true
Oh sorry, that was Cat Ballou.
