US VP Debate 2024: Battle of the Dads - join the watch party on FanFare

phunniemee has kindly started a thread for the Vice President debate over on Fanfare. Join us! (Or, pop in tomorrow, if, like me, you can't bear to watch tonight.)
These speeches feel like quick edited tiktok speed chess. Vance is Yale law school stream of consciousness privilege jabber. Walz is more listenable while stringing together 80% sentences into a kind of pastiche that - I probably agree with - but that is making my cortisol levels spike.

IEA Executive Summary on Solar production for reference.
This is a debate. A rough one...

Two good debaters, so, none of the drama we've seen in recent debates.
The analysts will note that one of them evaded the questions more (Vance), I guess, but, hey, I stopped for dinner at 33:00 and gave up.

The consensus of the MSNBC folks last night was that "one was slick (Vance) and the other won (Walz)".

I see the hashtags #WinningwithWalz and #LiarLiarVanceonFire are trending on Twitter.

I think the post title is a little misleading. Vance is a father. Walz is a dad.

This was the worst debate I've seen since Dewey vs Stassin back in '48 *ghost noises*

Now it's over, is the place for reactions and analysis this thread or still the other?

Maybe metatalk worthy but when did metafilter become so censored? Not a peep about our US proxy wars happening right now huh?

One can always make an FPP if the lack of discussion is an issue. Be the change you want
o see.
Now if there is a graveyard of deleted/not approved FPPs on proxy wars exists that would be interesting.
Right now the topic is the VP debate and the youtube talking heads had these observations.
Vance needed to help Trump - this debate didn't help out Trump. Said head felt it didn't hurt him but because the win condition was help it was a loss for Vance. Said head's channel also noted Walz favorability went up 2 (or 3?) points so win goes to him. Also noted Walz has one of the highest favorability in the nation at the moment.

Also, doing this last time with the Harris-Trump debate led to an awkward split real-time discussion, so I'd strongly encourage everyone to comment only in the FanFare thread, for the live-reaction stuff at least.
