Strike-friendly games from the NYT tech guild “New York Times tech workers are still on strike after walking out one day before the presidential election. That means they’re still asking people to skip their usual Crossword, Wordle, or Connections routines. But now, the union has released its own offerings for games lovers that could keep them from crossing the digital picket line.” - Fast Company
In addition to games like Strikle and Strikeman, they’re also sharing recipes like We’ve Got Beef With Management Stuffed Mushrooms and Solidarity Soup.

Thank you, bunderful. I wrote it as a challenge made by a friend early in 2019, turned it into activity a group of us did via Zoom during the Covid lockdown*, and have maintained it ever since. Glad you like it. Feel free to share with anyone you like.
*We played competitive/cooperative. 10 minutes solving by ourselves, then the person with the most words read them out. Whenever someone else had a word, they announced it, and we all filled in what we didn’t have. Alone, each of us was smart, together we could be brilliant. We’d chat for a few minutes, then play a second game. It took our minds off what was going on and gave us something to discuss that wasn’t Covid related.

One of the few times I haven’t been annoyed when music started autoplaying (when I guessed the right answer in Strikle).
Solidarity from across the border. It takes bravery to hold the line in the US at this point in history, and I salute my American union siblings.

For those on Android who are missing Wordle, you can use F-Droid to download the free open-source game Gurgle. It offers unlimited Wordle-style puzzles (though no high score or win/loss tracking).
