Australia's timber detectives use tree DNA to catch misleading imports. A timber industry leader says she is surprised by results of testing that showed about 25 per cent of products being imported had inaccurate species and origin claims.

I'm biased as a niche type of builder that primarily uses lumber grown within 50 miles. But I really think the international logging industry as the default supply of building materials is an environmental travesty.
