It's mind-boggling that the author of that Artisan piece appears to believe that somehow automating the generation of marketing spam will lead first to a 4-day work week and ultimately UBI and "utopia."

As they say 'If you need a straight line, just take a few points and apply a log scale to the axes!'

That's what I always say.

What we didn't know was that our controversial approach would lead to 10s of millions of impressions, 1000s of death threats, 100s of articles

Yes you did.

We didn’t expect people to get so mad. The goal of the campaign was always to rage bait

See, there we go.

Luckily, the people who were mad aren’t our target audience

There we go! Good thing people “outside the target audience” never get mad enough to do something of consequence!

I saw that Artisan item elsewhere and now, having read the co.'s humblebrag ("we didn't know normies would hate our super-successful ragebait that much"), I am wishing all the very worst things on and for them.

And for those who might have been curious about the meaning of 'antifragile' (I was), it comes from a book of the same title. Here's what the wikipedia summary has to say:

"Simply, antifragility is defined as a convex response to a stressor or source of harm (for some range of variation), leading to a positive sensitivity to increase in volatility (or variability, stress, dispersion of outcomes, or uncertainty, what is grouped under the designation 'disorder cluster'). Likewise, fragility is defined as a concave sensitivity to stressors, leading to a negative sensitivity to an increase in volatility."

With this example:

"An everyday example of this strategy contrasts a highly paid executive with an expensive lifestyle and debts (fragile, highly vulnerable to unemployment which could be catastrophic) with a self-employed taxi driver with no debt (resilient, unlikely to suffer an economic disaster). To move on to becoming antifragile then requires a combination of low fixed obligations with making small bets that have asymmetric payoffs."
