Nice! I have been enjoying Blame Brett, which has been tearing up both of my local college radio stations. Didn't know they were all women or from Toronto, even better!

I saw the Beaches at CityFolk this fall and they are just tremendous goddamned fun. I mean, they are fun on Spotify, but the best Beaches is experience is to see them live.

The Surfragettes are excellent and have toured the US extensively. They've built a nice following among the surf/instro community.

Was it only Blame Brett that broke them out of Canada? The Beaches have been on consistent rotation on the radio here (Sonic) for years with Money and T Shirt (amongst others).

I'm pretty sure that it's Brett's fault that they have exposure outside of Canada.
I saw the Beaches at the Toronto CNE in 2016 when they opened up for Walk Off the Earth. I'd never heard of them before this and they were fantastic; I became a fan.
Walk Off the Earth was also really good but I was surprised at how much they swore. I'm fine with swearing, I just felt that it didn't fit their image.
Love the Sufragettes! I can't get enough of the surf music.

While I don't love the fact that I had to go to Urban Dictionary to find out what 'going ham' means, this is a really good song, so thanks for posting!

The scroll down for that article on the Beaches was the top 10 long reads of the year and boy howdy did I enjoy the schadenfreude of reading about rich people literally punching each other over how many millions of dollars to spend renovating their tennis club.

I'm gonna have to listen to some of their pre-"Blame Brett" stuff, see how they've evolved. Blame Brett was like my album of the summer - and I've loved the singles they've been putting out especially "Takes One to Know One" - can't wait for another album!

My favorite Beaches song is Highway 6, which is seemingly quite a different vibe from a lot of their other stuff.

May I offer Edge of the Earth? That link isnβt the full song, but the intro plus a super gay dedication Leandra gives to her ex (the songβs inspiration), who is in attendance with her parents.
