I’ve always thought it better than Goodfellas. Just as masterfully filmed but with a larger canvas and more resonant story.
That it didn’t get at least a nomination for Best Costume Design is an outrage.

Agreed, Lemkin. Goodfellas always seemed to me to be the tired plot of "woops, done in by drugs" and Casino was ... oh, right.

I'm with y'all - Casino is far more my jam than Goodfellas. So much style that it just drips and it underscores one of my problems with Scorsese. He always makes the "rise and high flying" so glamorous and "fun" and the bulk of the films that the "oh no, look at the terrible consequences" section of these psychopaths' lives falls flat as a moral lesson.
