A friend discovered only a few years ago that his mother had lived down the street from Robert McGinnis when she was a young woman in the late 50s and modeled for a number of his covers. If you see a McGinnes pulp fiction cover from around that time featuring a woman who looks like she could be Sophia Loren's cousin, there's a good chance it's her.

Well, that was a nice interlude in a dreary morning of documenting the downfall of the US gov't. Thanks, this is a great post and a great blog to follow.

I don’t think I would ever recover from a mind-blowing like that. I’d be like Nietzsche in the asylum.

I framed a bunch of original covers in this genre, several of which are featured on this blog. Wow there are some great ones I've not seen before. "Don't Murder Before Christmas" is gold.

I have one they don't, which still makes me giggle: "Why Slug a Postman?"

The back cover of Do Not Murder Before Christmas is worth a look too.

For a frustrated young reader these covers offered so much which the novels never produced.
