I'm loving the casual hand in the pocket. No pretense, no BS, no "influencer" content-farming for clicks. This is a true enthusiast happily sharing his knowledge and experience with other enthusiasts!

Also that trick for using oil pressure to pop out a bushing (around 7 minutes in) is like freaking magic!

I was idly wondering how Dan Gelbart was getting on a couple weeks ago! (Astute readers may notice I commented about taking his class at UBC in the previous FPP.) I'm heartened to see he looks and sounds pretty much exactly the same as he did nearly a decade ago.

Also: suspenders (braces in metric) + belt - how can you not love that?

Oh, Dan, Dan Dan, Dan Dan, Dan Dan. As a YouTube creator you're supposed to do an intro with at least one or more "like and subscribe" exhortations and maybe a not-so-casual casual mention of your Patreon account. You didn't even tell us your name, just went straight into the material like some kind of … expert?

Thank you, Dan.

My god, I wish I had that shop ...

I hadn't seen Dan's stuff before. Thanks for posting! Definitely going to try that NaOH trick, especially now that LA is humid.

I've been in that shop. Dan is brilliant, unique, and hilarious all at the same time.

This is the first time I've heard of Dan Gelbart, and I had no idea such a brilliant polymath existed. The weak NaOH solution preventive measure for rust is going to come in handy.

This is what the internet is for (and cat videos). I have spread the word among my co-workers (mechanical engineers, all), encouraging them to view his videos. This is great.

Was reading some of the comments on one of his videos when I came across this lecture of his posted on the UBC Eng Phys channel which might be of interest to folks here - Creative solutions to impossible engineering problems
