Soccer team loses 149-0 on intentional own goals. I've heard of taking dives but this sounds a bit much!

Considering a game is 90 minutes (not counting stoppage), it is an average of 1.655555 goals per minute. They could have done better.

Well, they didn't want it to look suspicious...

Not too bad, considering the ball has to be returned to the centre spot after each goal.

To be a blatant smart ass, so what? Is the Madagascar team significant in any way?

This isn't new. I do this in EA Sports FIFA series every year. Now, if the NFL Bengals would finally implement my game plan of using every down for a Fake Field Goal attempt then maybe I'll finally find a coaching job.

Spectators demanded refunds
Next time I'm at a sporting event and it's not interesting enough, I'm demanding a refund. And my standards are pretty high, so watch it, sports leagues!

Okay, so they were protesting about alleged referee bias. Let's assume that referee bias cost them one goal. That means they still lost 148-0...

matteo...I agree that Winning Eleven (International Superstar Soccer to us stateside) *was* better, but the improvements in Fifa 2002, when added to the benefits it already had (more licenses), make Fifa the better game this year, in my opinion.

They were protesting referee bias in a prior game. This game was inconsequential, since the protesting team had already been knocked out the running for first by drawing the top-team in a game that they feel the refs gave away. Poor refereeing is a huge problem, as far the integrity of sports is concerned, in international soccer, especially in the third world and poorer nations like China.

After say 100 goals, if you were the other team wouldn't you try to score at the other goal, if only to put up some sort of "fight."

[We are at the 125-0 mark, and the announcer, even after being advised to give up, bravely soldiers on.]
