boxplorer
one of the most interesting website interpreters i've ever seen. i'll just quote the site: The Internet BOXPLORER browser offers a rectangular view of the World Wide Web. It abstracts web page layouts to produce what are frequently rather colorful compositions. BOXPLORER purifies the Web, making it safe for children of all ages -- free from controversy and advertising. Translation - very interesting graphic renditions of any site you enter.

wow - that's quite cool but you have to admit, it's a slightly different "feel," you know?

Either it's not working for me, or I just don't get it. Probably the latter...

Wow, The Shredder made my grungy-looking website ... grungier. Colour me impressed. I don't care for the Boxplorer, however. Novel idea but a tad boring.

I can get just about the same effect if I turn off the images in my browser. Not one of the most interesting things in my book.....

For reinterpreting websites I prefer the pornolizer. Sample output. [NSFW]

It's just turning on table borders and stripping cell alignment and contents.

"It's just wanking on table farts and muff sniffing cell alignment and fucks."

Metafilter fpp ten years from now:
"A placid boat ride past dripps of harmonizing, doe-eyed unclefucks just doesn't cut it for kids raided on Quake and MTV."
Sigh.

Some of the more interesting ones I've found:
- noogle
- somethingawful.com
- hotwired
- pixelobsessive.com
- pitchfork
It seems the more complex the page (ie, the more nested tables, includes, images, etc.) the better the output in Boxplorer. Still, I have to agree that potatoland is much more interesting.
