You have to land very, very slowly.

First try, 5013. Had no particular problem landing. Less sensitive than the old Lunar Landing game, seemed to me.

Seems to have crashed on me after the first level (Moz 1.2 for OS X).

And, just to keep the Friday funning rolling, once you master the five levels of Monkey Lander, you might want to stagger over to try your hand at Sober Santa.

Similarly, but rather more commercially: Emu Lander. Emu lander has the advantage of a gauge telling you if you're landing sufficiently slowly.

I tried Sober Santa, and while it was good clean fun (belching and flatulence always a plus in my book), I couldn't figure out why St. Nick insisted on trying to fall UP off the roof.

I think it's funny that there seems to be an advantage do dying twice, right before you land. If you do so, then you get the maximum number of points from your leftover coconut fuel. You get ZERO extra points for actually having any lives left over at the end.

Any of you that under 25 or were not early 80's arcade addicts may not remember the Lunar Lander game this is obviously based on. But I remember wasting a handful of precious quarters one afternoon just trying to get one of those damn spaceships to land without exploding. Luckily this monkey's spacecraft seems to be built a bit more sturdy or perhaps it is the subtle superiority of the coconut fuel. I'm not sure.

Yes, but now you can get up to 400 points for a tank of fuel, before it was only like 200 or 150.
