Step in the right direction for the War on Drugs?

Michigan to Drop Minimum Sentence Rules for Drug Crimes. Although many people have known for years that minimum sentencing rules for drug offenses are seriously flawed, some states seem to be finally doing something about it.

perhaps miminmum sentences for corporate fraudsters might not be such a bad idea?

I wish they'd stop being so wishy-washy about drugs. Either ban them completely and hand out harsh punishments to users and dealers, or legalize them. Instead, we get this wishy washy 'it's sorta okay but you'll still get told off for it' legislation that does nobody any good.

Why can't they just make up their mind what their policy is and stick to it? Portugal did, and drugs are now 'legalized' there (Correct me if I'm wrong, Miguel!)
