Hee hee...The Boondocks, the most consistently enjoyable of all the daily comicstrips around, deftly compares the NRA to NWA. It's one of those "wish I'd 'a thunk it" moments.

I look forward to reading the Boondocks every morning - it has become one of my favorite strips.

It's unfortunate that it's taken so long to "integrate" the funnies.

Heh. Why just the other day, there was a letter in the paper saying that The Boondocks should be removed from the comics because, among other things, it was "politically and racially motivated". Guh.

It's really, really annoying when rednecks think that discussion ABOUT race is "racist", asking why John Rocker is maligned but Chris Rock is praised.

I think The Boondocks is brilliant, although imperfect. McGruder sometimes overreaches and misses his targets. The Jazmine character is rarely identified as interracial, but looks white in the strip, which poses problems when she does things like praise rap stars. But gawd, he can be funny.

It's really annoying when MeFi folks think that discussion about RACISM is racist too... but Boondocks rocks.

Who's to say she doesn't look white even in McGruder's head? She has a 'fro, but her teacher's continuing unease with her might suggest that he's suffering from category breakdown: she looks white even though her father is black. I can't remember if it was her appearance Huey was referring to when he called her "blacker than Richard Roundtree in Shaft in Africa."

Speaking of Shaft, if I read the radio correctly, there's going to be an interview with S L Jackson in about an hour on NPR.
