model rocket video

Hobbyist records video from the POV of a model rocket via microwave downlink. The videos may be getting slammed with traffic right now, but the essential geeky construction photos are here. via macintouch

My goodness this is cool! Developed by a wireless group, the frequency used for the video transmission is within the spectrum used by 802.11b. They used an extremely cool helical antenna to catch the signal generated by the little onboard transmitter - aiming it at the rocket as it went along.

The server is indeed being hammered, but the construction photographs alone are worth the visit.

Thanks for a great link! My inner geek is hyperventilating.

yup can't load the vids - but the geekness is superb.

here is a mirror of the vid for anyone out there who wants it. I'll leave it up for the next day or two. Please don't post this anywhere else or give it to everyone you know or anything, because my ISP will probably kill me just for posting it here.
