I like the way he looks down the barrel -- he's a very bright man indeed

Dear Tipper,

War is hell. I was looking down a gunbarrel today, it was pointed right between my eyes. Man was I scared. Thank goodness I'll be coming home soon. I don't know how much more I can take.

Love,

Al

One of the stranger things about the graphic novel "Watchmen" was that at one point they showed Nixon carrying "the football" and the artist actually drew it to look like a football, which is ludicrous. In fact, the President doesn't carry it (an aide does) and it just looks like a briefcase.

Anyone remember the scene at the beginning of Platoon where William Defoe takes all the gear off of Sheen telling him all that stuff is gonna get him killed???

I think he lost something down the barrel and that is why he is looking down it...oh! I know what he lost. His marbles! ;-)

Of course we all know it doesn't look like a football. I thought the Watchmen thing was a terrific deadpan joke.

Well, there are three problems that I can see with this picture:

One, the weapon is not loaded. There's no clip and I doubt there is a round in the chamber (see two).

Two, there is a barrel cap, or a dust cover on the flash supressor (the thing with the slots at the very end the barrel) this is common for M-16's in storage.

Three, his gear looks very, very new. Not like that of a typical man in the field... far too new in fact. His hat is not crumpled from being in his pocket, there's no helmet in sight, he's not the slightest bit dirty.

Now that, my friends, is a picture of a senator's son. Not a grunt with his ass in the grass.

His gear still has the creases from being folded

Al is just upset because he "got no gi-l-friend in NA-M" and the sad sad truth is "5 dollars is all his momma allows him to spend"
