Like Slate’s International Papers, the US Department of State collects foreign media reaction to a policy or event. Instead of blatant propagandizing (like some other State Department pages) there is simply a lot of useful translation and short descriptions of the newspapers.

Nice link. It should be required reading for all Americans. I'll bet many don't realise the true extent of the savaging the world's media is giving to Bush's policies.

this is very good, but it doesn't seem to be one of their email lists. is there an automatic way to convert web pages to email when they update? i guess this is what rss etc is for, but i'd much rather use email in cases like this - i don't care about pretty graphics and i can sort and archive it myself, reading it when i have the time.

i asked and they confirmed that it's not on an (external) email list or likely to be added to one - nice friendy reply, sounds like it's a small dept. i also looked round for web for email monitor/gateways. there are a couple, but nothing that seems to be actively supported or particularly sophisticated.
