Sick sea otters on the west coast and killer seaweed in the Mediterranean, and California as well. What can we do to help save our oceans and seas?

Well, let's be more specific: we don't want to save the oceans and seas, per se, but rather the animals that live in them. And only the cuuuute ones, at that (good riddance to the jellyfish and man o' war's).

I think jellyfish are very cute.

That's a great broad statement, thanks. I think you'll find that anyone willing to do more for the critters of the sea than buy a t-shirt or a stuffed animal is concerned more about the delicate balance of our eco-system which includes otters, jellyfish, and yes, even the hagfish.

cat feces in particular.

Plunge, that may have your name changed to Flush.

So litter boxes flushed are an environmental hazard.

The weed has destroyed large swathes of the seabed in the Mediterranean over the past decade after escaping from an aquarium.

Ok, some one flushed the algae too? I'm guessing it worked it's way from an inland source into a river/creek.

The California seaweed has so far covered 3,500 square metres (37,500 sq ft) at Carlsbad and is dispersed over 20,000 sq metres (215,000 sq. ft) at Huntington Harbour.

This algae likes cold water?!? Wonder what the red-tide would do to this though. Or could it ridden the red-tide.

Could this algae filter the cat waste in the Pacific Ocean off the California shores?

There was a great NOVA episode about Caulerpa taxifolia.

Circumstantial evidence points to it being released from the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, when Cousteau was the director even.

Not because in BC, Victoria is dumping raw sewage into the ocean, or anything would it?
