Old Firm dialectics

Old Firm dialectics It's going down the thinnest wire tomorrow in the Scottish Premier League (football/soccer/fitba that is) as Celtic and Rangers, with one game left to play in perhaps the most absurd league in Europe, stand equal on points and goal difference after 37 games thus far.

The SPL may be one of the most absurd league in the world, but the Old Firm are a hateful blight on football. They sell themselves on hatred and the bigots in my country just lap it up. And when they quit the league in a few seasons the SPL will be wonderfully competitive: just look at how close the race for third place is every year!

I reckon the Jags are prime candidates for relegation next season, we've sold Alex Burns and Scott Paterson already, John Lambie's off. Unless of course the SPL decide to scrap relegation again.

"SPL - Most of absurd league in Europe", now there's a good tag line.

I'm sorry, that's just far too simplistic. Rangers are guilty of what you say, given that they wouldn't even consider signing a catholic until the late 1980's, but Celtic have a long tradition of following a non-sectarian policy. Even their greatest ever manager was a protestant.

Glasgow has a sectarianism problem, but you do everyone a ddisservice by misrepresenting it.

I'm afraid i can't speak for Glasgow and it's certainly true that Celtic have never been run as a strictly Catholic club, but in Ireland old firm derbies are just vehicles for Protestant bashing among the Bhoy's more moronic support base here. Thankfully in the past few years it seems that both the club and its more football focused fans have put alot of effort into fighting this.

A world record 50th league title - well done Rangers.

'No Excuses' , eh?
