Jerry Springer is running for Senate. It looks like all our campaigns will now be powered by blogging.

“Voter turnout is not a glorious thing. If Jerry Springer shows up, he’ll bring all these new people to the polls. They will be slack-jawed yokels, hicks, weirdos, pervs, and whatnot.”

If he can swing all those demographics, I say he's got the election won, dude.

I wonder how much of his audience realizes he's a filthy liberal? ;)

The Cusack For President campaign was much more interesting. After all, he's an anti-war, anti-Nader Democrat good on television who could pay for his own campaign... Too bad he decided not to run

Jerry Springer / Ronnie Dobbs in 2008!

What everyone forgets about Mr Springer is, of course, that he is not only a "filthy liberal" but a fairly experienced politician - he worked on Bobby Kennedy's presidential bid and he served for six years on Cincinnati's Council-at-Large and was then elected Mayor of Cincinnati in 1977, when he was a tender 33 years of age. Plus, he holds a law degree from Northwestern, won seven Emmys while working for WLWT-TV in Ohio, serves on the board for the Audrey Hepburn Hollywood for Children Fund as well as at least two AIDS-related charities, and has written and worked extensively for Breast-Cancer research causes.

All in all, not bad credentials for anyone who is running for Senate ... except, of course, if you've also been the host of the most notorious television talk show ever to air.

Fortunately (or not, I guess, depending on your viewpoint), he was born in London (in 1944, while his parents were fleeing Nazi Germany, no less), so he can't be elected President.

His Political Graveyard entry is actually pretty interesting:
Springer, Gerald N. (b. 1944) -- also known as Jerry Springer -- of Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio. Born in London, England, February 13, 1944. Democrat. Mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, 1977-78; candidate in primary for Governor of Ohio, 1982. Jewish. Resigned from Cincinnati city council in 1974 after admitting he paid a prostitute with a personal check, which was found in a police raid on a massage parlor; won back his council seat in 1975 and went on to become mayor. Still living as of 2000.

It would be worth electing him just to see what a Springer-led filibuster would be like

God help me, I'd vote for him.

Hell, I'm not exactly what you'd call a fan of what daytime television has be come, but I'd vote for him, too.

Better a highly-visible public personality like Springer in office than yet another generic creepy old white dude with shady connections, I say.

I hope he's using the commercial license version of Movable Type. I doubt it, though.

Leftists rallying around Jerry Springer. Oh...my...god.

Some of them seem quite serious too! Of course my favorite is the obligatory slam at white people from sensitive leftist majcher. You tell us, old sport! Your approach is certain to win hearts and minds everywhere!

I would like to help you regain respectability, my friends, but it is far too much fun watching the American left wing drift further and further into irrelevance.

I love watching jtm harp on the same slack string. Vote jtm for Senate, representing the Troll Party! But only if you can't vote for Jerry!

Dear Iax:

You said that I am leaving the same post on multiple threads.

Hmm, I posted on one other thread last night, and that post noted that the left wing was rallying behind Grand Wizard of the KKK Robert Byrd, and I noted that the left wing was obviously self-destructing.

Why would you lie and claim I made MULTIPLE duplicate posts last night?

Are ALL of you leftists so dishonest?

Remember, leftists: when stuck in a hole, keep digging.

This is too good... the American left rallying behind a GRAND WIZARD OF THE KKK.

I love watching the left wing collapse.

My number one motive for visiting this board is to revel in the implosion of the American left wing.

You have not let me down, leftist friends.

Go Hillary!

From Slate:

"The child of Holocaust survivors, he earned a law degree at Northwestern University, then became a campaign adviser to Robert F. Kennedy in 1968. Springer settled in Cincinnati, lost a race for Congress in 1970, and was elected to the city council a year later. He was only 27. He became a popular, outspoken, lefty leader--his first action was to propose a ban on the drafting of Cincinnati residents for the Vietnam War. He resigned in 1974 when he was fingered in a vice investigation--he had paid a prostitute with a check (duh). But a year later he ran for council again and won. In 1977 he was elected Cincinnati's mayor. "

Trolls like jtm are a great argument for killfiles.

And, just for the record, love red meat, love guns, hate hippies, hate you.

Is "leftist" the new spelling of "communist"? Only I left my Stalin hat at home today, and I want to join the new cool kids club.
