Walk the Great Wall of China, or rather, take a virtual stroll through the use of a QTVR-esque java applet along a good stretch of the Wall that seems to be in pretty fair shape. For the vast majority of us that will never get there in person, this is an interesting close up.

Jonson made a title in the same vein for this post. Then there was a big brouhaha. Some liked it, some didn't. Ho hum.

I go four steps into the wall headed southbound and it stops amoung ruins. There is a small mailbox there. I open it and read the leaflet. It says "Welcome to Zork".

The best part of the Great Wall are the guys in mediaeval costumes who jump out from behind pillars with swords drawn going "Hah!" and then demanding you take a picture with them for five renminbi. My mother nearly dropped her camera off the edge when one did it to her while she was admiring the scenery.

Second best part: Luging down to the bottom on little ass-carts.
