Excellent gallery of early 20th century sheet music folios, including some very attractive samples, as well as some somewhat outdated images. via memepool

I'm hooked. So many of the lyrics are so disturbing, so much of the artwork and design is so cool. Nice link.

eBay has some great ones too, the vast majority at dirt cheap prices. I've actually considered buying some of the prettier and/or unintentionally funnier ones to frame and hang on my walls.

(FYI, the Irish come in for some non-PC caricaturing, too. But the awful minstrel stuff ["Wet Yo Thumb, Blackface!"] still takes the cake.)

Thanks for posting such a hilarious and educational site, jonson. These are gorgeous, funny and just plain great historical documents. I love the abstraction.

Re: Black stereotypes - has anyone else spent time at the Jim Crow Museum of Racist Memorabilia? It's a real education.
