A wonderful wee web adventure... Beautiful, creative, strange, bizarre, and fun too... exactly what the web should be about.

Not that long ago really, Keyser. I'm surprised you missed it the first time.

i missed it the first time around so i have no probs with this double post... my goodness what a great little diversion, i just love it...! i know it reminds people of terry gilliam and others but it's also reminiscent of "where the wild things are" by maurice sendak.

2+ minutes to load
No browser history
Mystery meat navigation
No point I could discern
Requires browser plug-in
Yeah, it's the sum total of what the Web should be about alright.

On the other hand, it was a kind of quirky entertainment.

Worthy of a double-post (cuz I'm particularly pleased this baby sneaks through the wall of fire @ work).

That's it! I can't get Chasm, it's impossible! (any hints for navigating the pipes?

watch out for the gushing water and the laughing bird.
posted by crunchland at 9:24 AM on August 21, 2003

I'm about ready to strangle that bird. Now I know why I don't live in Australia.
posted by nprigoda at 9:26 AM on August 21, 2003

A little help, please?
posted by nprigoda at 9:32 AM on August 21, 2003

I'm getting pretty tired of that bird laughing at me too. AUGH! Thanks alot, crunchland.

Well, you probably need to find a way to carefully examine the water pipes that lead up the cliff face, so you can chart your path and escape the flow of water. Maybe if there's an overlook and a telescope, even... yeah, that'd be ideal...
posted by crunchland at 10:28 AM on August 21, 2003

I just couldn't figure out how to get there in time. The secret just seems to be that you need to be really fast.
posted by nprigoda at 10:47 AM on August 21, 2003

...or know the right way to go.... or search for the spoilers from the last time chasm was posted on metafilter...
posted by crunchland at 10:50 AM on August 21, 2003

Sweet! Take that, you stinkin' bird!
posted by nprigoda at 10:52 AM on August 21, 2003

I discovered a link to a Chasm forum full of tips and pointers. Sorry, no time to post it, gotta get back to work. Too much time wasted already.

I am completely hooked on Chasm now. That damn bird is really pissing me off - I'm *this* close to getting through that door...
posted by widdershins at 11:54 AM on August 21, 2003

I just solved Chasm. And it only took me all goddamn day, too!

(Anti-spoiler: whatever you do, don't try heading up the C tube to the top; my little platypus just disappeared up the pipe and never came back. Probably a bug, but it meant I had to start over from the beginning... grr...)

I'd like to give a great big anti-thank-you to Cool Alex. I've just wasted a freakin' hour on that game. Dammit.

Ahhh, sweet relief. Second that, ook, it took me all day too! Ok, what's next?
posted by widdershins at 1:51 PM on August 21, 2003

Hah! Chasm was easy! The pipeline just needs a little mapping. I remember the "good old" days when puzzles took weeks to solve... King's Quest V for example: if you didn't map the whole goddamn desert (near the beginning, if I remember correctly (it was back in...1992? Whoa! 13 years)) you could get stuck near the end because you just didn't have something you should have picked up a loong time ago (a used shoe?).

Chasm was fun, but the chech masterpiece had wonderful atmosphere.

OK, but how the hell does this one work? I know its old, but is there anything to do past the "park" screen?

Gah! I can't get past the stupid anteater! Help!
