Bruce Lee as Peace Symbol

...“To be honest, I get sick every time I tell someone I am from Mostar [in Bosnia] and they ask me whether I am from the east or west side of the city (the city is divided into the Bosniak east side and the Croat west side),” said Nino Raspudic. “That is one of the reasons for building a statue of Bruce Lee. We are hoping that someone in the future will say: “I knew Mostar. That is the city with the Bruce Lee statue. If we succeed in that, then I can retire.”

People have gotten so stupid that we have to explain irony.

this actually makes decent sense, good for them!

(doh, I was this close to posting this comment to quonsar's damned anti-tesla coney island thread, and you all remember what happened last time that happened...)

Makes perfect sense to me. Bruce Lee is from the east but was also able to make it big in the west. So in a sense, Bruce Lee is from both the east and the west.

Well, the quotation marks could be placed a little better, but I like his spunk.

While I was a bit puzzled at first, after reading the article I would have to agree with the choice of a Bruce Lee statue for the city. Actually, if they build it, I will make an effort to visit it someday.

Very cool idea -- hope they succeed, on both counts (statue, tourism).

It'll make Mostar Seattle's sister city. We've got the body.
